This is Paige's first year as acting President of the PenPal's Board of Directors, 2025 It is a challenging position that requires daily "hands on" work....even with her full schedule she has found time for the animals of Pen Pals here on the grounds of DCI. Paige is an animal lover, a mom and an overall hard working person....Her ability to multi task has helped us cross major gaps and continues to help us develope our prison pet programs. Her continued strenght and "push forward" personaility shines through the gaps and lightens our path for a better tomorrow.

Molly brings the sunshine here....She is a dialy inspiration of kindness and support. She is a leader in team effort and major player when it comes to animal welfare. Her years of training and coming up in the ranks of "prison care" has become our safe haven for keeping us all in check when time is needed and answers are a must. Molly is a pet lover and a great addition to our board.

Khelsey is a new board member, 2025. Khelsey has been at DCI since July 2023 as an accountant. Prior to working at DCI, Khelsey worked for a CPA for five and a half years as the lead accountant. She graduated from LSUA in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics. Khelsey attended BRCC online and completed 24 credit hours of Accounting Courses. She is the proud mom of an AussieDoodle named Douglas and eight chickens..."They make life interesting and fun! My family and I love them all very much." "It is a privileage and an honor to serve on the board for Pen Pals. Being a part of an organization that will go above and beyond in oder to help and save animals in need is a great accomplishment and I am excited to see the future of Pen Pals."

Assistant Warden, DCI
Emily Smith began her career with the Department of Corrections in 2006 as a student worker with Prison Enterprises. After earning a degree in Agricilture Business fom Louisiana State University in 2008, she joined the organization full-time in the Sales & Marketing department. Over the years, she advanced to the role of Administrative Program Specialist and later Executive Staff Officer. In 2014, Emily transitioned to Dixon Correctional Institute as a Transition Specialist, focusing on inmate rehabilitation and reentry services. With the growth of the Reentry Department , she was promoted to Social Services Program Consultant in 2019. In 2021, she was named Assistant Warden, overseeing Reentry, Inmate Records, Classification, Education, and the Youthful Offender Program. Emily's passion for rehabilitation extends beyond people- she is a proud adopter of her miniature Australian Shepherd, Ollie from Pen Pals.

Col Whitstine brings to the table years of hands on experience with "Chase team dogs, to basic prison corrections Do's and Don't's" He is the backbone of structure and working knowledge of how to support a pet shelter within the walls of a prison. We are grateful for his leadership and support of our Prison Dog Program and his guidance in helping us maintain our care center for pets in need.

Shiloh is our greeting team DIRECTOR...her fluffy, somber nature is about the best there is... Everyone stops by for a hug, a kiss or just a reminder that "life is better lived with a pet"! Shiloh makes monthly trips to the VA Retirement Home, Make A Wish visits and local stops at our hosptial to make someone smile...she is the face of hope to many that have lost hope...."Way to go Shiloh"

Stacey brings over 35 years in the "animal services field". Stacey has served on numerous boards for local and regional animal foundations, to training parish law enforcement and animal welfare enthusiasts on animal care/handling/building animal cases/dog fighting&animal cruelty/animal behavior/how to avoid stress in an animal shelters.... She is a certified Animal Cruelty Investigator, Humane Animal Law Officer, Equine Animal Care Specialist, certified Equine Cruelty Investigator, Slack & Swift Water Rescue certified, and an Equine Appraiser.
