So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Our Mission at Pen Pals, Inc. Dog and Cat Shelter and Adoption Center is to:

Provide a safe and healthy environment for homeless dogs and cats.
Provide medical needs for all animals in our care.
Teach basic commands to the animals in order to make them more adoptable.
Reduce pet overpopulation through an aggressive spay/neuter program.
Reunite lost pets with their owners.
Secure quality adoptions for the animals.
Raise money to assist with medical and operating cost.

The program includes comprehensive training of future veterinarians in shelter environments.

Here at Pen Pas Inc. we are also dedicated to the rehabilitation of those incarcerated at Dixon Correctional Institute.

OUR PROCESS

Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

Finding Your Pet

Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing animals in our care that you are specifically interested in.

Additional Information

All animals are adopted on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list can be arranged depending on the circumstances.
We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular animal if you have not yet applied to adopt.
Pen Pals Inc. is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. Please be patient with us…the animals need our time too.
All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
